Acid is an ingredient for crafting and is essential for crafting end-game items that use aluminum and tungsten ingots, often being highly sought after in the later phases of a scenario.
There are several way to obtain acid, these include: through disassembly of various junk items, dropped loot from enemies, and crafting from both a memetic unlockable node and Memetic Specialization]]s.
Obtaining[]
Disassembly[]
Acid can be acquired by disassembling certain junk items, and certain crafted items. Junk items that disassemble down into acid can be found from the very beginning of the player's journey.
Loot[]
Most commonly, acid can be acquired from mob drops (typically from Deviant enemies, and bosses). Once the player has aquired some better weapons and armor they may try their hand at Workshop Defense, where acid is a guaranteed reward for successfully defending their chosen workshop.
Crafting[]
Once a scenario reaches its second phase, the player will be able to allocate memetic ciphers to unlock the ability of crafting acid in a brewing barrel. To do so, the player must have 7 ciphers and 
2,000 energy links to unlock the node Brewing Barrels in the 4th section of the Logistics page, this is granted that they have unlocked all other prerequisite nodes before attempting to unlock this one.
Once this memetic node is unlocked, and a brewing barrel is placed, and powered, the player can insert impure acid, or contaminated plants to produce acid. Note: contaminated plants are different from deviated plants.
Acid can also be crafted by using an Osmosis Water Purifier to process Polluted Water, this results in Impure Acid and Pure Water. The impure acid can be processed further using a Brewing Barrel which yields 1 acid per cycle, per slot every 20 minutes (for a maximum yield of 4 acid every 20 minutes per barrel).
